Overview
The project started with an architectural project I designed, also called Nexus, which was a logistic hub paired with sports & entertainment programs and aimed to bring people in the urban communities together to revitalize urban life. The idea evolved to this app design for users to keep updated with city's fun events, connect with people sharing same interests and enjoy diverse activities with people to share the passion.

The Challenge
In the dense cities in China like Shanghai, many young people come to the city from other regions often find themselves alone in a city without friends and families. Many people shy away from enjoying the diverse activities in the city because they can't find friends to do it together. The Nexus app was designed to help people in large cities connect with others sharing same interests and make the participation in sports & entertainment activities less intimidating.
The Solution
To accommodate both individual users and group party users, I designed the app's event booking feature to include both individual reservation and group event reservation channels. Users can also choose to attend individually, invite friends to their bookings, or let the app pair them to groups so that they won't be alone. They can also host their own events to attract people to attend using the Nexus facility's flexible spaces.
The Result
The Nexus app was designed to differentiate from the regular event booking app where users book, go to event and go home. It offers options for individual and lone users to enjoy activities and events easily, whether by themselves or by groups. More importantly, it helps ease the psychological fear for people who don't come to those events because they can't find friends to go together.
